An airbag wheel WILL NOT work on a non airbag car. to do it you will have to replace the follwing:
steering column (remove the dash to do this)
turn signal stalk w/clock spring
plastic trim for turn signal stalk
rubber trim for turn signal stalk
steering wheel
hard wire horn

FWIW, I have a burgundy interior and was in the same boat. I found somebody selling a nice black wheel and it looks fine.

HPguy,
Did you see the retro kit for 3spoke with crest ? From late 996?

If I have to retro fit a bag wheel to an '86 951, I would find latest avail .

Anyone else do one like this guy ?
Is there an easier retro fit wheel ?
930s wheel is nice, but a bit thick like my old MOMO Monte Carlo.
Using MOMO top power now, not bad.

I don't care for 4 spoke on any car including 750i

That's Greg East's car. I know him. He already had an airbag, so there wasn't all that much he needed to do. He has spent a great amount of money on the interior.

I have personally convereted from a non-airbag steering wheel to an airbag steering wheel. It is just for looks though the airbag will not be functional. It is doable, just not easy considering you have to take the dash out of the car, drill out the steering column and put it all back.

But it sure does look nice when it's done.
