Ruf 944

In our quest for parts cars for our race cars we have came across a RUF 944 that we have aquired. We are either going to part the car or sell it as a whole for the right price. The cars has a two tone Tan abd Black interior, white RUF script gauges, RUF script door handles, and a RUf script logo on the rear of the car see the pictures below. We do not have keys for the car the PO could not provide us with any, however we do have a good title for the car. Somthing is wrong with the pelican web site I will post more pics later.

How much, and how can you verify it is a RUF car and not just someones badge work.

even if it's "ruf", that car still looks pretty ROUGH...
why it would fetch more than a normal 944 barn find, even if it's a ruf, is beyond me.

Ruf 944

I have spoken with RUF North America about this car. This what I was able to find out.

In the early years when RUF was doing cars there wasn't any special way to ID the cars. Later on Porsche issued RUF VIN's that were special to RUF cars. There were quite a few 944 turbo cars made but only a handful of 944 cars were done. On this car it has the 944 RUF gauge cluster not a TURBO cluster there is no bar meter for boost so the gauge cluster was made just for the 944. I have been told that the 944's were pretty much an appearance package more than a preformance package.

As for what I would be looking to get for the car I was actually hoping to sell the car for around 5K. We will clean the car up replace the windshield or give you a good one with the car we have quite a few. I will post some pictures of the interior. And engine bay ect ect ect.

Looks like a stock 944 to me with some emblems. Worth about $800.

maybe

There are differences in the car from a normal 944.

Two tone interior, RUF gauge cluster, door handles, rear emblem and it has what I think are turbo sway bars front and rear. Like I said it was an appearance package.

That's more than enough to pay for photography lessons.

does it have RUF vin, anything issued from porsche to say that it truly was RUF package. Its definitly worth restoring if it has a special vin or title, i might be interested, would you ship it?

If the price were right I would ship the car I have a local shipper we have used in the past. 1K is far from the right price. I could part the car for 5x's that amount.

Photo lessons are not needed maybe a good camera that worked properly would be in order.

$5K for a 944 that rough and with the wrong offset wheels seems much too high to me. I wish you all the best in you selling endeavor.

Hey Rfreundt - it was good to talk to you on the phone about this car and the Ruf parts. After looking at the additional pictures I would recommend giving the car a thorough cleaning and replacing the windshield, taillight, driver's seat, center console lid, fog lights, correct offset wheels and sidemarkers . Get it running and then take some good pics in the right lighting and post the car on ebay. With national and even international exposure like that you might easily find that 5k you are looking for or more....
