WTB: Early Steel Front Control Arms

Looking for a pair of early steel control arms.
Have an AL pair if someone even wanted to trade.

Thanks

yeah, those are not worth buying used, new ones are dirt cheap. Had a string of A1 chassis VWs and I always just replaced the control arms if anything was at all questionable. The $30 price is probably without bushings though, but I always used poly so that was actually a plus for me.

One gotcha - the originals had the ball joints riveted on so you need to get bolts with new ball joints. No big deal except they are 7mm (25mm long? I think? better check that) so your local hardware store probably doesn't have 'em. Last pair of ball joints I bought came with new bolts though. (actually bought a pair of A1 ball joints to get the boots for my 944's Al control arms... boot ripped but ball joints seemed to still be OK, passed state safety inspection anyway)

Are you sure they are of the same quality and thinkcness? It seemed to me the Porsch eOEM ones were more substantial than the ones available today.

We found out that the newer VWs are the exact same part, right down to the swat bar mount, plus, if you are going to box them, they are already clean. If you are interested, I have a set f custom built boxed stainless arms that I can't use with my Turbo "S" struts.

Byron,

I am guessing that your custom arms are replacements for the early steel ones and not the later deep offset cars? (if the latter, I might be interested.)
