968 Rebuilt New Engine Feeler $5500 US

Hey Guys,

Drool time. I have beautiful 0 time 93 (not 94) 968 Engine With Rebuilt Head (new Valve Guides, Cam Tensioners, Chain, Pulley's Seals, Widefire Head Gasket, Piston Rings, Water Pump (1 year used) Good Oil Pump with new seals, New Belts completely assembled. Minus ECU, clutch & Flywheel. I am building over the next few weeks. I do have a S2 housing, flywheel, and sensor if you want to install in 944 or 924S. I have done this conversion and it rocks any mods and destroys even mostly stock 951's, and Vet LS2 motors. Comes with Alternator, Starter, Full Long block, Injectors, Rails, harness Header 4 to 2 pipe and wires. Basically everything minus the 2 to 1 header to muffler exhaust.

I spend $3500 on basic engine with 120K. Professional rebuild in San Diego Motorworks (Porsche specialist) $500 for head build and $750 for block + 600 seals, about 40 hours of my time.
This is my Third 968 Motor I've rebuild and will stand behind it 100% money back.
The 968 Engine makes about 245Hp to Crank and about same in torque ft/lbs.
This one is with perfect condition rebuilt/remanufacturered to Porsche standards. May be able to even fly out and Install for Cost + 500 and Pizza/beer. Engineer taking a little time off.

I don't want to sell but need to trim the stockroom. May go 944 spec for race only.

Picture were before Rebuild but just as pretty.

Anyone interested? Don't bother Low balling. It's already a steal.
Would consider trade for old 968 + 2500 cash.
For those that know how to work on the 968 and Porsche engines in general, You know this is pretty good deal. I welcome your comments.

Hi Racker,

I got delayed resembling, and am now working again so can't do the fly out thing. I have all parts and about 15 hours to resemblem mininus clutch and flywheel. I do love these 968 engines. So much more go than 944's and I have 2 of those. Engine is not taken. I'm currently working on my special race 968 engine. What did you have in mind?

Jim

Hi Jim,
I'm a fan of the 968 platform. I've been searching for a good spare 968 engine. While quite a few examples show up for sale, you don't see fresh ones that often. I own a 91 S2 which has a 968 engine transplant. The idea of transplanting a 968 engine into my 1988 924 SE is very intriguing to me also. Yours must be a blast to drive. This engine is a 1994. Does it come with the 94 rods, which are an upgrade compared to the earlier rods?

Thanks ,

Rick

Jim,
Forgot to ask. Your ad says harness. Does it come with the manual transmission engine management wiring harness? I'm located in Sarasota, FL. 34237. Please give me a shipping quote. I may have it shipped to a shop in the area. Its zip is 34239, Venice, FL.

Thanks,

Rick

I just checked the Engine. This was actually stamped as a 93. So i'm now editing the title. I guess that was my other engine that was a 94. So I'm not sure if it had the extra fillet on the Connecting Rods. Truthfully if you are bending a Rod you have bigger problems and if that's the week link. It's also the cheapest and to replace if something has to fail. Best insurance is change those Rod bearings before they fail and take your crank shaft and Connecting Rod. I can now speak from experience.. I though that minor change was in 93 but not sure? It came from an auto tiptronic. As far as I know, the harness for the engines are same. I've used them both and no issues. I added a connector near the DME for the Extra 2 power pins that are required on the 968. Puting in an 924S you would need to scrounge the Engine bay side of the 2X7 pin connector for Sensors/injectors. The 924S has a 3x3. I did a write up on doing this way back.
I Swapped a 968 into a 924S

Shipping is around ~$500 for the ~375lbs. I could look up exact if we get there. I actually bought my race engine from florida. CA and FL must have the highest numbers of these babies! Still not possitive I will sell her. She and I still need a some time, but let me know if you're interested.

Err how does a 245hp motor destroy an LS1 that pushes about 100hp/lbft more and weights about the same

First thang Halik. Please post your Technical issues to the correct forum. Power to weight. Torque, not Hp wins races. The LS series is Holy in my book. Possible the best engine in world. Im' just saying Power to weight and much lower drive train loss on race built vs stock Vet. Surprised me to, but I've seen it.
