Best softer tire for a 944

I've been running Faulken Azenis 205-50-R15's on the 944, but want to move up to 225's, if they will fit.

So my question is will 225's fit and who mades a comparable sticky one like the
Azenis?

Thanks.

We use/race a 225/50/15's on a 7" phonie or cookie fitted to all of our 944 cars. They fit fine. I love the TOYO PROXES RA-1. It's a street legal racing tire. Don't shave it.

I assume you have the stock 7" wheels. If you have 8's in the rear, a 245 will fit with no problem.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to look at the Toyo Proxies.

OK, so if I'm using 7" cookies, who is around that can make them 1" bigger.

Or which wheel is available that has the approximately same back spacking that is 8"?

I know Weidman Wheels in Oroville will widen Fuchs.....

I thought the RA-1's were NLA...

I just bought a set of Hankook Ventus RS2s. They were $99 each on TireRack, and they are supposedly the same sort of tire as the Falken Avenzis (not an r-comp but sticky). I have not tried them on track yet, but will in April. I had them shaved to 6/16ths. The RA1 is definitely a stickier tire (being an R-comp) but it's going to be less suitable for the street (rain, cold). I ran RA1s for the past 2 seasons and loved them. I just wanted to save some bucks and simplify my life.
