HELP! 944 silver rose is dead! WTB: DME and standalone EMS

i have a 944 turbo S, DME is bad (seems battery compartment area water leak got it), fixing the waterleak but since DMEs so scarce and relatively expensive yet outdated technology -- would like to consider buying an EMS at this time. Anyone have a good used system for sale?

Found some costly options available for standalone

TEC≥ - by Electromotive

piggyback is cheaper, interesting, but still reliant on old outdated original ECU

Also, anyone know if DME computer part # 0261200075
can be used in a 1988 turbo S? I have my original turbo S dme chip to move to the replacement. Even if I get a standlone system, would be nice to have spare original DME on standby if needed and for comparison

thanks in advance!!

You can use any 28 pin DME with your stock Turbo S chip and it will work just fine.

I have both .08 and .09 boxes that I have run just fine with my '88 running the K26/8.

The only difference between .08 and .09 part numbers is the EPROM chip.

For standalones, I recently went for a ride in Vic Pauerman's car, where he is starting to sell a different standalone system (Look at his signature in your WTB thread). That might be another option for you.

Cheers, Keith

There really isn't any sort of cheap stand alone system unless you were very handy and could build a mega squirt system yourself. I would budget at least $2500 and probably $3000 to $3500 if you want to be able to have a little more control of knock.
