FS: Set of Koni Yellow Shocks & Struts

Full set of Koni Yellow shocks and struts (model 8741-1136 Sport front, 8040-1035 Sport rear). These are the single adjustable (for rebound) shocks and struts that are similar to the m474 option.

Fits 87 and later NA and 86+ turbos. These have 60k miles on them and were installed new on my ’87 turbo when the original Sachs units wore out. They are in great condition and function perfectly; selling because I upgraded to KW Variant 3 coilovers.

If you’re still running flaccid stock Sachs/Boge struts and shocks, these are a titanic improvement. Includes bump stops and dust boots. I’d install fresh bump stops because they’re made out of foam, but the ones on there are perfectly usable.

SOLD

Curt,

From a functional perspective, I believe that the front struts are identical to the 8641-1038 and 8641-1414 cartridge that is legal in 944 Spec. The 8741-1136 is the entire strut housing + cartridge, which Koni used to offer for stock 944s that had been factory fitted with the Sachs sealed units. If you look at an older Koni catalog, they listed the 8641-1038 cartridge and 8741-1136 strut for the same 85.5-89 NA application and told you to only fork out the extra $$ to buy the 8741-1136 if you were unlucky enough to have the Sachs sealed struts that could not be repurposed with Koni cartridges.

They stopped making the 8741-1136 a few years ago when they introduced the 8641-1414 and the procedure to cut up sealed Sachs strut housings and install it. It should be identical in valving, etc. to the 8741-1136, which (as above), I'm pretty sure is identical to the 8641-1038. I think they just wanted to stop having to manufacture and stock the housings.

I wouldn't think that anyone would object to running the 8741-1136, but AFAIK the rules don't mention it. I'm not sure if this is because they are considered "the original factory installed shocks" since they are m474 spec or because they didn't think about the issue. Jason at Paragon would know the answer.

Yeah, I was looking through the rules and that part number wasn't listed, but did find info that this was the discontinued model. That info also mentioned the ability to revalve (not sure if that is the case with the inserts), but I know that is against the intent of the rules.

These have not been revalved. Any of the koni shocks or inserts can be revalved by a rebuilder like Truechoice. That would definitely be verboten in 944 Spec.

Shocks and struts are still available. My wife would be delighted to get these out of our living room!
