New / Zero Mile 951 Garrett Turbo

This is a NEW, never installed Garrett Turbo that is a direct install for the 951. This turbo will easily clear the 400 whp mark with the proper supporting mods. It is a common configuration for the 951 owner looking for more top end pull at the expense of a slight increase in lag.

Here are the specs:

T04E compressor housing - 3" inlet / 2" outlet
GT35R compressor wheel
360 degree thrust / journal bearing center cartridge
Stage 5 turbine wheel
KKK replica #8 turbine housing

$895 Plus Shipping & Papal fee.

how equivalent is this to, say, a 60-1 hifi turbonetics with an 8 hot side?

The 60-1 Hi-Fi was a turbo configuration offered by Turbonetics. They used a smaller T04B compressor housing for the purpose of accomodating applications with space restrictions. Like any other turbo, the Hi-Fi turbo could be mated to a Stg 3, Stg 5 or larger turbine wheel - the difference being "type" of powerband the end user is looking for.

As for the compressor wheel, the GT35R wheel is a newer design used in the GT ball bearing line up which is much more efficient than the dated 60-1. The 35R wheel flows much more up top and is more efficient down low.

Typically, 951 turbochargers are fit with Stg 3 turbine wheels which are larger than stock and provide good street characteristics. If you're looking for more power up top, then a larger turbine wheel is required because we are restricted to using the KKK based turbine housings. There is no other way of gaining additional flow thru these housings since they are all the same external size.

This turbo will work well in a 2.5L car if you're looking for more push up top. It would work even better with a larger 2.7L or 2.8L.

I bought a 951 with a built 2.8L stroker and I removed a 60-1 turbo with a Stg 5 turbine and #8 hotside from it. I was going to install this turbo in that car, but I ended up parting it out. There is no doubt that this is a better turbo than a similarly configured 60-1 turbo.

so this will fit under stock manifold? albeit certain little tings here and there. what about the water pipe? does it need to be modded to fit? do I need an oil restrictor?

so you went with the gt3076R turbo for your car instead? is that the 2.8?

sorta new to reading turbos, and what i'm looking for. this turbo is the GT3582R which means its the 82mm vs. the 76mm you have correct? what does the beginning of it designate? the 30 and 35? stage of turbine?

pm me if you like, interested in this turbo if it will work for my engine

This turbo will install under the stock intake manifold, but like any other Garrett turbo fit to the 951, it will require some slight clearancing to get to fit perfectly. I've installed a common spacer fitting for the factory water pipe and banjo fitting that allow the parts to be installed without having to do any modification.

I installed a GT30R for my 2.5L street car. I was going to install the turbo I'm selling into a 2.8L car, but my plans changed and I've got a spare turbo on my shelf.

This is NOT a dual ball bearing GT35R turbocharger - it is a journal bearing turbo which uses the compressor wheel from the GT35R.

What sort of powerband are you looking for? Are you using a 2.5L or a larger engine?

In a nutshell, this is a bigger turbo for a 2.5L engine, but still usable if you're into having a bigger push at the top of the RPM range. There are bigger turbos out there that use P-trim turbine wheels (2 sizes larger than Stg 5) in a #8 KKK housing, so this configuration is still feasable for a 2.5L engine if you're looking for larger hp/tq figures and are willing to live with the added lag.

I can tell you that Lindsey sells their Super 61 (60-1 compressor wheel) with a larger P-trim turbine wheel in a #8 and this is a "popular" turbo in the 951 game.

This is a really nice turbo configuration that will accomodate 2.5L to 2.8L cars.

Hope this makes sense. Feel free to give me a call if you have any more questions.
