Is local pickup an option and if so what part of the country are these in? Any idea on mileage and wear?

I would prefer local pickup. Hanover, MA. I'm unsure on the exact mileage on both of the boxes.

I have a couple customers with 944 Turbo ITE race cars that run the 968 box for the better gearing. I think they needed to change the driveaxles? Your best bet is to post the question on one of the forums.
Thanks

Kenny,

Is the 968 box a Torsen or clutch type LSD?

The factory built early 968 transmissions with a Torsen LSD and the later versions had the clutch type. Do you know which type you have?

Pauerman you have the right idea but the facts are opposite. Porsche factory actually built the first 3/4 model year of '92 968's that were ordered with 220 option with the ZF clutch type locking diff. for the G50 6 speed. Then both the 964 and 968 in '93 went to the Torsen type from then on as both have a G50 based transaxle. With introduction of the 993 in 1994 they started building 220 option with 224 option which has an active brake differntial to cure the inherent open diff under braking which the Torsen LSD is known for.

I believe if you get all the codes from the transaxle in question you can determine when it was built and if it has Torsen or ZF

Thanks for the clarification. I knew there were 2 LSD options that came on the 968, but obviously my details were backwards!

The LSD is a ZF clutch type differential. If you need any part #'s on the gearbox or diff let me know.

Thanks
