WTB: Late 944 antenna booster

Looking for a antenna booster from a late 944. Must have all wiring intact.

Yea, I'd say that's cheap. No long ago, someone here was trying to get 75+s for it(I highly doubt that he got it), but it was new (list is like 139). Youd be better off paying 20 or so, for an aftermarket one.

Does anyone know the specs on the factory one, like the gain, or the noise figure?

I mounted an aftermarket one right next to my 3rd brake light in the hatch and ran the wiring out of sight and it works great. The black plastic body of the unit is a rectangle and blends in nice with the 3rd brake light. Think I paid $33 for it new on feebay.

You must have a regular antenna then. My 951 has a windshield one, and reception wise, they suck, period! Even with the factory booster (unless mine is not working), reception is nothing to say a good word about. That's why I was wondering what the specs are on the factory one. I actually do have 2 aftermarket ones lying around (I believe one is radio shack), IIRC.

Well, now it looks like I just put myself in to the position of volunteering to do the comparison test. Sometime soon, hopefully - stay tuned......

Easy now, your only 50% correct in regards to that. It's only fee-bay if you are SELLING. It finally drove me to cut all of the selling I was doing there, by like over 90%. But I do still buy alot, so I am still a good customer to them, because I fork out the funds, which the seller gets, that the "bay" can charge it's fees on.

EDIT: The final straw was that they charge ME yet another fee, if someone pays with a CC, as most seem to do. But I always pay with my debit card, so those who sell to me don't get charged that fee. Mentally speaking, I couldn't accept that inequality, so I had to quit selling.

I have an 89 951S as well and have the one in the windshield. I believe that factory booster is not working properly so I installed an aftermarket one and like the results very much. Well worth the money and yes I have been known to sell a few items on feebay.

I'll take that as good news then. Maybe the windshield antenna isn't all that bad. That gives me hope that my reception will improve using one the aftermarket (the other one might be like audiovox, or something) ones that I have. Cool.

I had a aftermarket mounted above my rear view mirror on my '87 but that was mostly because i had a non-antenna windshield in the car. The male end of the plug for the antenna into the head unit was broken so ive been listening to the same CD for the past 3 years..albiet its an MP3 CD . My '88 had a brand new antenna windshield put in before i bought it, so i minus well use it. I really only want the radio for traffic when i am coming home from the track.

Thanks for the lead on those eBay ones.

Hi Jon, I looked and didn't see the antenna boosters on feebay. I bought mine over a year ago so you will have to look on the web to locate one if you decide to go this route. Steve, I have a pushbutton audiovox antenna booster that I had laying around here for a number of years and I tried it out before I bought this one and the audiovox one did not work half as well as the new rectangular one did.

I wonder if I should expect the radio shack one to be any better?

wild man, you must have a bad booster (or live in a poor reception area), I have never had any reception problems with any of my windshield antenna 944's...also, I have another one (factory booster) just as nice as the one Techno Duck is getting....same deal ($15 shipped) if your aftermarket ones doesn't work.

I live in the (appalachian) mountains, so I need all of the signal-grabbing power that I can get. I actually live in the susquehanna river valley, but the mountains are all around me. I'll let you know, if I want to try another factory one. Thanks.
