AOS seals, what is best type (color)?

A parts place recently sent me a set (for N/C) of blackies that measure 20(ID)x5, and 24x5, which I have just confirmed (by measurement) to be the correct size for 87+ models. The original ones, which broke when I removed them using a screw driver, were brownies. I'm debating wether to put on the blackies that I have, or should I pick up a set of greenies. I think I heard that the greenies are synthetic, or something. Is that so? And if so, they would be the obvious ones to go with, right?

Here is the original thread:

Is 20x5 & 24x5 correct size for AOS seals?

Oh, and if yours are the original brownies, there no doubt whatsoever, they ABSOLUTELY NEED to be repalced.

I think they are actually a redish orange, factory part from porsche and parts heaven were that color, similasr to the balance shaft O-rings. Remember , only use syl-glyde (lube from local auto parts store) on O-rings.

After 22 years, they are cooked into a brown color, flatttened out, hardened, and brittle. I'll ask about the syl-glyde, is it silicone?
