Q 4 Gurus? Wilwood or Big Reds vs Big black / yellow or Turbo S brakes for v8 conv

could someone point out pros and cons given I have a 1983 porsche 944 with SBC v8 (400hp ) conversion of upgrading the stock brakes to:

1) big reds
2) big black
3) big yellow?
4) Wilwood
5) turbo S
6) turbo
7) leave stock brakes just get expensive brake pads

also if you can for the discussion provide an estimate to implement each. I think this would benefit a few other people out there too

what would you go with and why looking for best bang for the buck and assuming one was going to use the vehicle as a mean daily driver but not on track

thanks

i also saw there are Wilwood 6 piston calipers too?

What is the intended use of the car? If it is a street car then factory 951 brakes with some method of boost assist would more than adequate.

Wilwood's are easy to adapt and put on a 1983. They work great, too.

intend to upgrade wheels? if not then yea i say stock with better pads, but if you upgrade, then go for the rx7 and lexus 430 brake set up

ohio_porsche 11-16-2010 04:47 PM

how do the Wilwoods compare to say turbo or turbo S or stock with better pads?

ohio_porsche 11-16-2010 04:49 PM

how much benefit to putting turbo calipers on rear (no need for new spindles etc) with good pads and good pads on the stock NA front brakes? seems perhaps the most cost effective? for daily driver type use

For street use, zero benefit. 944/951 stock brakes more than adequate for all street use, and even for much track work.
