SOLD 91 S2 TRANS 5 speed 48K PERFECT w/WARRANTY $625

SOLD SOLD SOLD

1991 S2 TRANSAXLE 5 speed Non LSD PERFECT Condition. 48,100 miles. We purchased this in May of 2006 for our project 924S restoration ( originally was going to put in a V8 needing the S2 superior strength, larger pinion and closer gear ratios) but after redoing head on stock engine ran great so left alone).
Transmission was from a wrecked 1991 S2 coupe with 47,000 miles on it. We found a 87 924S trans that was much less than the S2 and shifted smoothly. When project was done we first tried the 924S trans ( SEE OUR FINISHED 87 924S FOR SALE this link . Auto Trader Will ACCEPT $3,900 for 924S

In late 2009 we installed the S2 and put 1,100 miles on it. Shifts flawlessly !!! I do not make that statement lightly it simply shifts like butter and is perfectly quiet. I have raced and restored/worked on cars since I was 17 (as a passion not a living). In 2010 we put back in the 924S trans eventually knowing within coming year we would be selling the car.

S2 Transaxle is being sold WITHOUT MOUNTING BRACKETS.

Application

The NOT FIT list would specifically be 1976-1984 924 2.0L normally aspirated (NA) cars.

Note that these model years cover "Rest of World" (ROW) distribution of the 2.0L 924, and will confuse many enthusiasts in the US who typically think of the model year range only covering 1977-1982. The 2.0L cars were actually produced in limited numbers for ROW markets through 1984 in both NA and turbo-charged applications. It was also introduced in Europe beginning in 1976, but didn't see most markets until 1977.

( 79-84 924 Turbo aka 931 With Notation below )
87-88 924S
82 1/2 to 89 944 NA
86-90 944 Turbo aka 951
87-88 944 S
89-91 944 S2

Generally speaking all 2.5 L and 3.0 L engines in above listed cars this transaxle will bolt directly into car.

924 TURBO This Transaxle can be used in the earlier cars with snailshell, you have to also get the torque tube and the complete shifting mechanism from 944 or 924S, plus you have to cut the arms off of the snail shell torsion carrier. So not exactly bolt in with regard to JUST the trans...but if you got the whole package it would work. 81-82 931s in the US had the Audi box, so definitely this is bolt in for those. A little more work involved for the rest of the 931s.

HERE IS CHART ON ALL 924,931,924S,944, S1, S2 Transaxle ratios

It can be upgraded to LSD.
