Apparently all years DME are compatible, the chips inside have more pins +87.

What is pins count on both, I forget ?

I have 87 and 86 Euro

I pinned down the DME in 87 as the issue (Pun intended)

Ive got one - never been opened - came out of a running car. Asking $175 shipped. The BOSCH number is 0 261 200 075 and the Porsche part number is 951.618.151.08. It is from an 88 and has the early 24 pin setup.

smaller Bosch don't work with my harness, need Motronic-Bosch DME ECU (Larger)

I'm returning the Bosch KLR

I got one box with wrong harness, its smaller Bosch boost box, and other DME is dead.

As requested...I know 100% this unit works as it was running a 1986 944 turbo motor three weeks ago.

Josh, the .08 DME is a 28 pin setup, not 24 pin. The .02 is 24 pin.

Cheers, Keith

You sure about that? I thought only the turbo S cars came with the 28 pin DME and someone on this same board is advertising an 87 DME with the same part number as mine in this thread below - not that it really matters as this DME was running an 86 engine just fine

87 951 dme & klr

Porsche was going to put more sensors on the 951 and decided not and the extra pins are useless.

However in my case I just need Motronic-Bosch NOT Bosch KLR

Hi Vanosman - not sure if I follow what you are saying. I've seen more than my fair share of these engines and harness and all of the 944 turbos use the exact same size DME and KLR unit. They are all Bosch Motronic. They all use the exact same harness connectors as well for those two boxes.

The 28 pin configuration is the commonly available chip size and both Rogue Tuning and Vitesse Racing use that configuration for their modded chips for these cars.

Might help if you post pics up of what you are looking for.

Plug was too long for harness in my 86 German spec and 87 USA 951s, it was the smaller Bosch KLR but not mentioned in the ad.
NOT good reply from seller , where is return address jackass ?

I just FedEx it back today where it came from on the shipping label. His problem now for oops forgeting to mention its a KLR ECU for boost on auction.

That picture you posted up is of the other engine computer - the KLR and not the DME... See where the banjo bolt is for the clear line that goes to the intake and is used to determine the boost?

And that price was way to high! They usually go for about $75 if someone needs one.

There are two engine computers on a 944 turbo - DME and KLR. The DME is the one that controls fuel injection - the main brain. The KLR does knock control. Usually the DME is the one that goes bad.

Non turbo 944s just have one engine computer box....

I saw that ad on Fleabay, and agree that the explanation was very confusing. I had to do a double take to figure out if he was selling a KLR or a DME.

If you know what they look like you could figure it out, as he was also selling a .10 DME in a parallel auction.

Kind of a buyer beware with that guy, IMO.
