944 Turbo Late Offset phone dials

Looking to sell a set of silver-paint-finish phone dials from a 1987 951. Damage-wise the wheels are in good condition, with no curb burn to speak of but two minor dents in the area of the lug holes on one of them (see picture). Unfortunately I did remove some paint while power washing them for these pictures.

Asking $325 for the set (including the center caps) but would be willing to hear offers. Sale does not include the autocross slicks, which have been removed.

Just trying to help.

Are these late (as your title says) or early as the date indicates... 86 should be early.

Funny you should say that. Having (as it turns out) never seen early offset wheels, I thought mine were early based on the date of the car as well (and the fact that it did not have ABS), and I sold them on craigslist and shipped them off to a guy who was none too pleased to get late-offset wheels. It's tough to tell from these images because of the angle, but the difference between the offsets is obvious. These wheels have a face effectively flush with the rim, which is as late offset as it gets.

I wish I were, but the car that these came from died at the hands of an SUV driver on a cell phone and I have yet to get back into the 944 fold. Unless you mean you're offering one of the track cars in trade

Posting the "ET" or offset is an even BETTER way to confirm "early" vs "late".

Early will be 10-23ET while late will be 52-55ET

Those are definitely late offset wheels, and didn't go on an '86 951 - at least not properly. sounds like you had an '87 from early in the production run (probably dated later '86 on the VIN sticker).

If you were closer, I'd try to get them, but I can't do shipping. Good luck with the sale!

And in fact you are correct. The co-owner, who handled all the paperwork when we bought it, swore up and down that it was an 86, but I just got out the old maintenance records and pulled the VIN and it was an 87.

Looks like a lot of fun for not too much money... unfortunately can't afford much fun right now :-) Good luck with your sale!
