Dual gauges pod, What do you think?

{edit} I mean "think" not "thing" {edit}

I would like to get your opinions and interest on a little something I’m working on.
In fact, I started working on this last winter and then put it a side because I was to busy with the 924/944 GTS headlight.
I tried to replicate the shape of the factory one below the grill.

If there is enough interest, I could spend some time on this during winter and try to have it ready for next spring.
It would only be available in black and go for around $65 shipped to CAN and US.
This is only a rough estimate and not a confirm price.

Let me know what you thing, beside the little trimming problem I had

Thanks

I would like it better if the gauges angled towards the driver..

I will check if I can do something about that.

I have a set in the mail, I will test fit them when they get here.

Do you mean a third one or a different size/diameter one?
No room for a third one.

Sure, I can sell them uncut or 1 hole cut and 1 not, so you can mount what you want.
I might be able to sell them without the 2 round shapes, flat surface to mount a GPS or whatever.

Thanks

I still have to work on one of the mould as I’m not 100% happy with the fitment but it’s getting there.
If this come trough, you could order one or both pods uncut, I left one pod uncut to show you what it looks like. This was point out to me by a member.
This way you could mount a manual boost controller, shift light, different size gauge, etc…

Liking it! The previous owner of my car built one of these out of wood and stained it. It is old and cracking, and only holds one gauge.

What is the backing made of, fiberglass?

I like it . if you cut some small tubing on a angle then install the guages you can angle them toward the driver.

Cool..

Been wanting to start that project..I would like to add some pics for some more ideas on it that I had been looking at, in my design of how I would do it..Do you already have a mold that will fit in the dash speaker location ?

this is a speaker cover that I saw a picture of that sparked my interest..
looks like it's wrapped in vinyl..

a company called prosport gauges .com makes a hood that might cut down on the glare from the sun in the windshield..they make different sizes

and finally ..I forget the name of the company but they make a whole dash cover where you can add these gauges

dash pods

The 240 z has a nice set up ..this can be cloned into a 2 guage version and recessed into the 944 opening or one can make the outer pods with the pvs and mold it to fit the 944's . The hood is cool , though.

@ dp951 Thanks for the info and pics

This thing might be ready before spring
I still have some tuning to do on the moulds, but now the bottom of the pod reaches the edge of the opening.
Just to be clear, only the pod will be for sale, gauges will not be included

Thanks

Have you notice the time on the clock?

Good news for the brown dash, I could get some brown
But my supplier does not normally sock it, so I will have to buy a full sheet.

Here’s the deal:

I need a minimum of 4 members’ interest, and then I will ask you for a non-refundable deposit of $25 to help me cover the price of material.
Remaining of payment will request when the pods are ready.
I have no idea how long it would take to get it and what shade of brown it is.

PM me if you would prefer brown

Thanks
