1978 924 about to be parted/junked

Well it's time for the Guppy to become a cube. She has served well in the Chumpcar series for 3 years now, but it's time to move on.

Anyone need parts? The interior is pretty much gone, the transaxle has been known to slip out of 4th gear if you go on/off throttle, the engine seems sound but is reporting low oil pressure/oil pressure light. Even so she runs just fine, even at WOT.

I have a set of manual sunroof latches (SOLD), as well as manual window cranks.

I have a set of Talladega and Tarantula 4x100 wheels with Falken Azeni 615K's (SOLD) with maybe half their tread left on them. Bought new at the beginning of this year. 195/60/14 Falken Azeni 615K tires. One set will have to stay with the car.

I am going to be taking some of the more interesting bits off the car to see if people want them.

Interior is stripped out already, so not much there other than the instruments. ODO doesn't work.

None of the body panels are without rub marks, so not much there, either.

Have a brand new alternator we bought that has 8 hours of run time on it. Cost $120, how about $60?. New remanned water pump too, say $15 (SOLD)?. Lots of injectors (GONE), fuel dizzy works great, good lines (SOLD), etc. New fuel pump as well, only 16 hours on it. Cost us $100, say $75 or I keep it as a backup for my 951.

Anyone interested in anything? Let me know sooner rather than later....

Brian, right now you are second in line for the CIS stuff.

I am going to starting tearing things apart this weekend, but the motor/drivetrain is going to be the last bit as I need to keep the car mobile.

I have 2 fuel distributors/AFM's, but the one in the car is the one that I know works well. The other I cleaned up, but I have not tested it. That one doesn't have any lines, but I have injectors galore if you need those.

I will post some pictures once I get into it, likely this weekend.

I am interested in the sun roof latches and possibly the tack. I have an 80 924 and one of the rear latches is broken. My tack is for some reason only going to about 2000 then stops there.

Also looking for the two plastic screw in clips at each end of the sun roof wind flap if you have them.

Here are pictures of the things available now:

2.0L head (SOLD, $5). Valves all lapped by hand and head decked after overheating. Past the thickness limit so would require a thicker headgasket to not throw street driving valve timing off:



Control arms with decent ball joints, exhaust header/collector, used rear drums:


Oil pan w/pickup tube, used 4-bolt front struts/knuckles, radiator:


Mostly complete gasket set, including headgasket (SOLD), strut bearings, new coolant new/bleed hose w/stopper (GONE), 2 front calipers for 4-bolt suspension (SOLD), used engine hose, timing gear/crank bolt, new air filter (GONE), used WUR (SOLD):


Intake manifold/throttle body (SOLD):


I am not going to sell things one at a time, or it is all going into the trash, as I value my time more than these parts. How about $5 a part for the bigger stuff, small stuff will go with the larger stuff for free, and a minimum buy of at least 3 bigger items ($15, plus shipping).

Distributor in parts, used cap/rotor, vacuum amplifier ($15), new and used drum brake pads (SOLD), used starter, used ATE brake master cylinder for 78 924, fuel recovery evap diaphragm, used exhaust manifold gaskets (GONE), used clutch cable (GONE):


Cleaned up fuel dizzy/AFM (SOLD), injector lines/injectors (GONE), new/used drive belts, oil pressure sender, small oil filter works with pancake oil cooler adapter (GONE), electronic ignition box for '78 924 (SOLD), remanned brake master hardly used, air injector pump (works), cold start injector (SOLD), throwout bearing (GONE), oil pump (SOLD), aux air valve (AAV) (SOLD), manual window cranks:


New cam seal (GONE), water outlet gasket (GONE), thermal switches for coolant lines, bunch of NA injectors (GONE), used spark plug wires (GONE), new set of connecting rod bearings STD size:

CIS system (to be available next week, likely), plus other things you might want:


Set of 4x100 tarantulas with Falken Azeni 615K tires. Used for one 8 hr Chumpcar endurance race, about 50% life left on them. $50 + shipping (SOLD):

More stuff, $5 each for the big stuff, other than the water pump and the alternator:





Glove box with door that has BOTH catches still fully functional! (SOLD) The armrests and pockets are sold as well, as is the headliner trim stuff. Speaker grill is sold as well.


Radiator with fan, but fitting on fan is tweaked a bit:


Water pump pulley, alternator cooling shroud, transaxle shifting link, manual sunroof latches for the sunroof only (GONE), might be the fuel pump relay, other stuff:


Fuel pressure reservoirs are both leaking, so don't bother, but maybe you want the other stuff:


Manual sunroof latches are again for sale and include the sunroof and car side pieces.

All of this is going Bye Bye next Saturday at 1PM.

I'll take all the black interior parts in those photos:

Map pockets
A-pillars
Headliner parts
Glove box door
Armrest/door pulls
Speaker grille
Center console (if you've got it, did these have carpet on the sides or no?)

Will PM in a second

Don't need the door panels though, those should go with the manual regulators.
