wtb : 944 turbo cup bilstein set

I'm looking for a complete set of original front and rear adjustable Bilstein dampers and springs as used on the 944 Turbo Cup and Escort series.

Thnx.

I have 1 maybe 2 fronts struts. I know they are brand new never used or installed. I'll have to look in my mechanics garage.

yes I'm sure, my car is a factory 1986 944 turbo cup, but its missing its original Bilstein suspension = same like Escort CUP cars in the USA.

Allthough I would consider a 968 M030 suspension as well, since this is mentioned by Porsche Motorsport as a replacement / alternative for the 1986 Bilsteins.

the factory used the koni 8242 on the cup cars and in some 944s2 club sport like this

Hello

Thnx

The '86 turbo cup cars that were imported to the US were supplied with Koni shocks/struts. I don't know for sure if they were single or double adjustable. I recently sold a complete set of the Koni double adjustables that I had as spares [rears were the same as shown in the picture above], they had no Porsche part numbers on them. My '88 turbo cup from the Canadian Rothman series came from the factory with Bilsteins [as did all '88 Turbo Cups] and have 951 Porsche part numbers stamped into the body. Note that the Bilstein Turbo Cup shocks/struts are not adjustable.

Good Luck!
John

If Iam not mistaken according to Jim on rennlist (aka odd job) only 20 cars were fitted with the 8242 rear konis. Can someone verified this?

Looks like a lot of different factory setups !

On top of that : the euro (and Canadian ?) 1986 turbo cup uses different springs then the later cups. The 1986 cars kept the T-bars at the rear while the later ones are T-bar deleted.

I also asked Odd Job on Rennlist if he has specs for the 1986 springs. Buying a new set of Bilstein Cup shocks is not a problem, but knowing what springs to use if I want the car as close as possible te factory specs is more difficult to find out.

Like Oddjob states in the above RL links, all Turbo Cup cars came equipped with 25.5mm torsion bars. Also, the US spec '86 Turbo Cups did indeed come with double adjustable Koni shocks/struts with factory 951 part numbers stamped into them.

The US cars came with Koni shocks front and rear due to Koni agreement with Porsche US ... Rest of World Cup Cars and S2 ClubSports and 944 ClubSports came with Bilstein Adjustable coil overs front and back. The came with special progressive Motorsport springs (tapered wire/tapered coil diameter) and special Motorsport perches which matched the springs.

I may know of a set that are available that are recently rebuilt by Bilstein ... do you have a budget in mind? The complete set up with original springs, perches and shocks are pretty rare.

PM me if yo want me to look into it for you.

I have a couple of boxes with new (NOS) Koni double adjustable front and rear shocks. The numbers and lettering on them say 'SPORT'. What would be the value?...

Koni double adj fronts are approx $750 plus $800 core charge ... not sure that I've seen double adjustable coilover rears but I'm guessing the whole package has to be worth $1000 - $1500+ ... I guess that is pretty similar to the Cup Car set up for US spec so for someone wanting to get back to that spec maybe more.

Need to compare it to the Bilstein Escort Coil over set up which is $1900 including springs.

Others may have a different view

Easiest way to find out is to list it on ebay ... that allows the market to define the price .. but then you'd need to sell them
