I have these on my 87' turbo and also sold my previous 87' turbo with another set on. One of my favorite wheels. If I come across a set I will let you know. They are a hit or miss, but will still come up.

I have a set: need to be refinished: If memory serves they were painted at one time & the paint's flaking. Tires are on the wheels and work ok but nothing special.

Does anybody know how the factory finished the 951S club sport wheels originally? I seem to remember a machined finish. Were they clear coated or painted silver? Also would be curious if anyone has experience restoring these wheels. Thanks!

They were a champagne silver anodised finish. Not painted, so quite difficult/expensive to restore. I think I know someone who has a near mint set with original anodizing but I think he wants $1000+ for them. Probably a lot cheaper than getting them refinished. Do you want me to check with him? It was a couple of years ago but you never know

Yes, I had mine restored by Wiedman, they are anodized, took over a year and if you include the cost of shipping, over $2k
that set is only used for concours, I have a polished set for driving around, i also had a set powder coated Black and really like that look.

Cancel that ... just checked with him and they sold last year ... I'll keep my eyes out for some. They do come up. I'd have thought it was worth holding out for some ones in original mint condition. The last of the Turbo S cars 90/91 had the D90 wheels in 7/9" stagered fit 65/52.3 offsetts. They come up less often (I prefer them but it is a personal thing ) ... they were also on 928S4's of that era too. The 928 GTS had 8/9" anodised clubsports but they are very rare!

Yes, hard-anodizing was the factory finish. Ken, There is both a local anodizing company as well as a hard-anodizing company in the Austin limits...not sure they offer silver, it's more of a matted grey, but a thought
