WTB - Saratoga roof

Just getting back on the road my Dads '91 944 S2. Good solid car, just has not been driven in several years. I know they are rare, but looking for a Saratoga roof. Prefer a older "grey" tinted model, but may be interested in the newer re-manufactured units (my understanding is that these only come in bronze). thanks, JS Atlanta, GA

I got mine the second they went on sale from Pilkington when they did the new run a couple of years ago. 300.00 USD and yes, only in bronze. That being said the bronze almost looks like smoke on my Midnight Blue 968.

I would just order a new one from Pilkington - I have both and do prefer the original / older grey framed version but I keep the new one on the car as the older one is pretty rare.

I have also had one of the original bronze units and they were very very bronze compared to the remakes FWIW.

Did Plikington ever come up with a fix for the sealing issues most everyone had with their tops? I have one that is almost new but I don't use it for that reason. Haven't heard much about them in awhile.

They did - you have to call them and request it, I actually still haven't called and done that myself.

Anyone have extra front mounting hardware for the power original bronze unit? I am missing on side on my old top. Btw, I have called Pilkington Classic and they don't have any extra hardware or seals. I did find a post listing a VW seal as the one originally used. I am really not looking to sell it, but would entertain offers if you happen to have the hardware and need the glass.

I wish they did another run of dark grey or black tint ones at the $300 price.

Called Pilkington

Ok, I contacted Pilkington and now I'm confused. They said the unit that they sell is only for a "manual" roof and not a "power" roof. Is this correct? I thought it was the other way around.

I just bought a Saratoga from Pilkington and it is for a power roof. Also, they say the color is bronze, but mine looks more grey to me than bronze. I'm very happy with the fit and finish of their roof and was surprised how much more open the interior of the car feels, also how much lighter the glass is than the stock sunroof.

+1 on the fit and weight of the new Pilkington top. The latching arm handles are a little cheap feeling, but that's a minor gripe.
