Porsche 944 3 Spoke Aluminium Steering Wheel

Hi Guys,

does anyone know what i have here? I bought this a while ago for my 911 G-Model but it seems to be a 944 steering wheel. Looks like a lightweight aluminium version. Any expert here has seen something like this before?

Cheers,

Markus

Looks cool.
I believe that's a standard wheel, but one that just didn't get the black paint for some reason.

There is a german website (Das 911 G-Modell Sportlenkrad - Elfertreff - Das 911 & Porsche Forum 2nd post) that describes this as a super rare lightweight version.

That's a normal three-spoke that's missing the horn cover.

No it's not... The regular steering wheel is heavier, not aluminium, has a black inner plate and a different material structure behind the aluminium plate. Of course i also have the regular horn cover

My old '83 944 had the same perforated structure behind the plate. I had the raised hub option on that wheel also.

The plate in the pics looks like galvanized steel.

Nice leather wrap job though.

That steering wheel would be for one of these,

I would still be interested for my 924S cheater.
As to value, I had the 911 version of the wheel, much more desirable (and now I wish that I kept that for my SC) still, was only worth $700, so, unless someone has a 924GTS, there isn't a huge demand, so value (of course to the right buyer, mush more) would be less than half of that, as not many people collecting those, and as cool as that 924 is, I have seen them for sale at currant G series 911 prices, to WOW, it has race history prices.
I wanted to put more time into researching before putting my worthless opinion here

@racerbvd: wow, you really believe this is a 924 GTS steering wheel? Any idea how I can find out? Can't find any GTS lightweight steering wheel pics or references online :-(

cool never seen one of the aluminum backed versions hard to believe it saves any weight but hey rare is rare. So since theres only about 12 937 varients here in US pur it on Ebay.UK theres about 250 of them there on that island so the word will get out if its on there for say starting $300? I had a NOS 937 GT intercooler that I sold in 2009 for $1,200 on there to someone who wanted to have a spare for his car.
