Wtb good indulation

Does anyone have a good piece of hood insulation that they can scrape off of a junk hood for me? I have the driver side but need the passenger side piece. Just a used piece that looks good would be great. Thanks

Stupid autocorrect. I am in need of the passenger side piece of insulation scraped from a car. Paint scraper and 5 minutes will net you $30!!

Is it even possible for that stuff to come off in one piece? Mine came off at nearly sub-atomic particle level. LOL

It comes off of some. I have two pieces that are drivers side but none of the passengers.

Im shocked that anyone has gotten this stuff off in one piece - had to be off an n/a where the heat was less - when I took mine off my turbo it was a mess!

Na, it ain't like that. We have a $20 gift exchange in my house and my 18 year old would be thrilled to get some hood insulation. He won't spend $90 on hood insulation.

The passenger side dies first because of the exhaust manifold heat.... I really doubt you'll find one that has been installed and lived this long. I went with the aftermarket closed cell on mine about 10 years ago and never looked back. Hope you can score one for the kid though.

Yep, know it is a long shot. I got him a "944 parking only" sign so this would just be a bonus. If I could pull it off I would get him the aftermarket ones with the porsche shield on it. But at $90 I would be well outside of our $20 gift exchange rules.

Thought I would update this. So we went with some from classic9. Took my son about an hour to get the decals on and about 10 minutes to put the insulation on. (6 hours of detailing the engine then!)

Makes for a nice look, but I worry about the heat trapped in the engine compartment. The original insulation was waffled and thus for sound deadening, not heat. We usually scrape off the crumbling old stuff and expose the "fresh" 30-something yr old paint. Then the hood can absorb and dissipate heat from the engine.

Good point. It will be interesting to watch. I'm sure my son will keep an eye on it.
