Can you post pics of the back of the wheels, please? One each, front and rear?

And question -you say these wont fit a turbo. May i ask why? Early offset should work on an 86 turbo, right?

Thanks.

Malcolm

Malcolm,

The offset it correct but the wheels don't clear the turbo brake calipers.

Geez...those are beautiful. Too bad they're the wrong offset.

Klaus,

Sorry to be a pain. When you say the wheels don't clear the turbo calipers, you mean the face / spokes contact the caliper? I assume a 17" wheel will not have an issue with the inner circumference...

Malcolm.

Malcolm.
This is something I didn't understand too but even the euromeister model fitment guide on auto motion . com says the 17" wheels do not fit turbo models.

Coincidentally, there is a thread on another forum about a guy having problems fitting fuchs on an 86 951. They were contacting the calipers.

After investigation, he determined that he had 911 fuchs, and would need a 7mm spacer to get them to fit.

Might be a similar issue here, if this firm made one size of wheels to fit both 911 and 944.

https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/1024338-16x7-fuchs-and-86-turbo.html#post14462308

Starting to make a bit more sense now.

Bumflick,

Yeah I am posting in that thread too, as ian.

The issue is the shape of the spokes in relation to the depth of the pockets for the lug bolts. There just isn't enough clearance on the 911 style spokes to clear the caliper. The 951 fuchs were designed specifically to clear the big brakes and as such have a completely different layout.

When Euromeister decided to design these wheels they used the 911 wheels as template, and as such have the exact same clearance issues as the 911 part number fuchs.

As a side note, the 951 8s (rears) will also clear the big brakes on the front, but are not required to clear the 951s rear brakes. So you can run the 911 wheels on the back of the 951 without any problem.

Ahh. Got you.

The reason I keep pestering you about these wheels is I love them, but...
I've converted my 86 front end to late offset, and I have big brakes on all four corners... if there are fitment issues stock, with my set up, I should walk away. I won't clutter up your for sale thread any more.

And this is the sad part of it. I think it's an oversight by euromeister. They should have done both designs. 911 guys are always buying 951 Fuchs to fit over big brakes on their 911's. I think they missed the boat on late offset 17" Fuchs too.

I did a quick search and found these weights in another thread.

7 x 17: 16.5 Lb
9 x 17: 18 Lb

that is without tires.
