Rod bearings

Porsche 928 s2
When doing rod bearings do you need to change bolt and nut.or just nut

the rod nut has a serrated mating surface ,
This surface will deform into the rod cap,
this will give the nut extra mechanical grip once its properly torqued.

Removing the nut and installing again will put a worn serrated surface onto the cap ,
the grip that a used nut has will be less than a new part.

Do you want your worn nuts to come loose at 6500 RPM

So i dont need to change the rod bolt like you do on 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 carrrera air cooled
