Rear Quarter Glass -
Hey Dave- The only time I've seen the Rear Quarter Glass removed was during a complete repaint in a body shop. A couple of tech's used a super thin steel wire stretched between two "T" style handles to carefully saw through each rubber seal. Once the body work and paint was complete - New seals were used to install the windshield, quarter and rear deck glass.
With the age of our 928's I don't know if trying to reuse the old seals would be recommended or even possible. Good Luck -Michael

It's doable. The main thing is breaking loose the seal between the glass and the rubber and the car body.
You have to remove the outer trim being very careful not to bend the trim. I used plastic utensils to make sure I didn't damage either the glass or the rubber. Once I got it broken free most of the way around inside and out, I pushed the glass toward the outside and used plastic pieces to hold it out and just worked my way around a little bit at a time until it was completely free across on flat side. You can then move the glass around a bit and work it out. You can push pretty hard on the glass. It's pretty tough. It's a real good job to find out who your friends are because multiple hands are greatly appreciated. The other way to do it is to break out the glass and just replace the glass. The seal costs way more than the glass if you can even get one. But that's not the way I roll. ![]()

Usually its pick one, seal or glass, but unless the seal is impossible to get I would replace it.

Rear Glass Install -
Hey Dave - After watching Stepson's U-Tube video on the installation of the rear quarter glass panel a few times I think the guys I'd seen removing my buddy's glass from his 928 a few years ago were ideots.
![]() The small drain holes shown drilled through the lower edge of the window frame in the video sounds like a good idea. Especially since they are under the outer edge of the rubber seal and not visible once everything is in place. Good Luck with your install - Michael
