Blaupunkt Bamberg SQR 83
Hi To All!
I've a Bamberg SQR 83 in need of a digital display screen as the old one is damaged. My unit appears similar to several other SQR units such as the Monterey or New York. Perhaps someone can furnish me with a part number or better yet, have one to sell, that would be appreciated. I'm also seeking a service manual and schematic for this unit. One last thing, what is the fuse rating? Any help appreciated! |

Blaupunkt Parts -
Hey Gab - Other members will probably chime in to offer their stereo recommendations, experience and advice. Many of us have tossed a coin when it came to making the decision to repair or replace an old Blaupunkt. Although there are a few of us with the original stereo/cassette player still installed for aesthetics, I think most have made the conversion to the latest stereo technology.
Sadly, even a dead-in-the-water Blaupunkt carcass has become ridiculously priced because most all of the serviceable parts are NLA - "No Longer Available. As far as the LCD DISPLAY you need, there are usually some of the older Mercedes/BMW/Audi radios available for "Parts" on Ebay. Just be very careful when unsoldering and then installing a used LCD display using too much heat. I've found that the SQR series (named by adding an assortment of major cities around the world) have lots of interchangeable internals. They are priced reasonably when purchased and shipped from one of the 3rd world countries where their currency exchange is a wheelbarrow load for each U.S. dollar. Ethiopian Birr = 0.035 U.S. Dollars. ![]() For a "How To Operate the Blaupunkt Stereo Manual" try High Quality Service Manuals Schematics Repair User Owner Operating Instructions Vintage Classic Audio Stereo PDF FREE or websales@stereomanuals.com . The Blaupunkt Monterey SQR22 - SQR 23 Car Cassette "Service Manual" I last needed was $9.00 + $2.00 shipping ($11.00 total) It included 12 total pages, 11" x 17" folded /trimmed pullout pages, card stock covers, neatly assembled with 5 staples and fiber reinforced taped spine. By the time my latest project was complete - I had at least a $1,000 in labor and aggravation into a fine 35 year old $100 Blaupunkt stereo/cassette. ![]() 1984 Stereo Set Up - Miss Purdy Good Luck - Michael

I would set the old Blau in a box and put it away. Get a new radio with all the latest technology. One with Bluetooth, phone hook up, CD, USB, etc. If you sell the car, hand the new owner the box with Blau and be done.

Well I fix old tube radios and have a number of them going back to the 1930's. My Blau in the 928 I have gave out, so I pulled it, put it in a box and installed a JVC. I also put in a sub woofer & amp. The Blau had a casset deck, not of much use today. New radio has a CD and all the latest tech. I do however keep my 928 stock, it even has original plug wires! But the radio needed the upgrade. The sub fits in my spare tire! Good luck on fixing your old radio!

Rennlist has a discussion of new units that look old, a trend I expect to grow given how cheap it is to make a faceplate sized modern no cassette or disc head unit.
Personally I am thinking its MUCH better to go with less muffler than more stereo. |
