Gauge Pod figment question??

Hi,
Is there any way of knowing whether or not a gauge pod will fit a particular year 928?
I tried the Porsche parts reference but didn’t really solve the question!
Any thoughts?
Stay healthy,
Tim

The gauges can be interchanged somewhat, but for the most part, complete gauge pods normally cannot be interchanged between years except for 83 and 84, 85 with 86, 87 with 88, and maybe a few others.

I know 85 will not fit 84 due to the increased number of pins in the clips.

If you have a specific question about a certain year pod fitting your year car, post it for the masses and someone will know the answer to your specific question.

Thanks,
How do you know what year a pod comes from? I have an ‘84 that needs to come out and repaired.
I have a spare pod but I don’t know if it would just fit. The part numbers all seem similar between the years so I don’t know how you differentiate one from another. I know I can just pull the old one and repair it but I am curious how someone knows what will work and what will not.
Any additional information on this topic would be helpful!
Be well and safe!!

Tim,
The instrument gauge pod has a part number which corresponds to the year.

Are you talking about the dash colored surround pod ...or..... are you talking the instrument cluster?

The dash colored surround pod AFAIK fits all cars from 78-89. The airbag ones are different 90-95 I believe.

I am talking about the gauge cluster.

OK then. I thought thats what we were discussing, I just wanted to make sure I was answering the right question.

Google the part number would be my first step.

I recall somebody is making replacement, hard not flex circuit boards, Roger I think has them and would know what you need.
