1991 928 engine overheat

How bad is it when you overheat a 928. The car ran just fine and now after the overheat it will not start. What happens when you overheat one of these?

Overheating can cause damage in lots of different ways: warped heads, burnt valves, further loss of coolant. It can cause the impeller to come off the shaft of the water pump, or that could be cause of the overheating. Before trying to start the engine, I would compression test the cylinders to verify that you haven't burnt valves or warped heads. Generally, nothing good happens when you overheat an aluminum engine.

Heads warp, crack, etc and coolant can leak into a cylinder, coolant like water will not compress, hydrolocked.
