Best Way to Fine Tune A/F Mixture?
So,
After doing a bunch of maintenance on my 1978 928 I have reinstalled the fuel distributor and set to an initial baseline mix which gets the vehicle to start. That initial baseline was from 928classics, and a PDF they have available. I'll edit this later but his site isn't coming up right now. Anyway, as I don't have access to any sophisticated exhaust gas analyzer, and assume most here don't either, how do you try and refine your mixture, particularly on the K-Jetronic system (not KE) Thanks for any tips! |
CIS Air-Fuel Adjustment
Never turn the air/fuel adjustment more than 1/4 turn. Too rich, the engine will oscillate up and down at idle. From that point turn to lean, and when the RPM decreases it is too lean. Just bump it up a bit more rich and the mixture should be acceptable.

Thanks Rich!
That's what I ended up doing. I actually got a lot of information off a YouTube Mercedes video, and then another person with an older 911 that also had K-Jetronic. The oscillation is a giveaway now that I know about it, as are squealing injectors when you've gone way too far.. |
