84 S2 engine swap options

I have an 84 S2 euro 310hp version that is a bit tired so I’m pulling the engine and I have purchased an 83 euro S 300hp engine which I am going to drop in.
I will be using the LH jetronic off the 84 and will be doing a refresh on that.
The new engine has 0.26mm crank end play that is well within limits but wondering if I should swap over the thrust bearing while it’s out and easy to do, probably with the later larger type.
Also wondering if it’s worth swapping over the heads and cams but then there’s pistons as well?
There is only 10hp between the 2 engines and I’m thinking that’s probably because of the fuel injection although the cams are different, just not sure about the heads. I should probably do head gaskets anyway.
I will rebuild the 84 but it might take 5 years so want the best option for now
I welcome opinions

First question would be whether or not the '83 engine has the cast boss to accept the crank position sensor. If not, then swapping over the fuel injection becomes problematic.
