Starter or Other Issue
A few months ago, when I had my 928 running pretty good (still needs water pump work), it suddenly stopped turning over when I turn the key. Instead now I get a one-time "snap" that seems to be coming from under the intake spider. But the starter no longer works.. To then make it "snap" again, not that I want to, I have to turn the key fully off first.
So now the vehicle is sitting again.. Any Ideas? I have a 2001 Corvette also that had developed a no start issue a few years ago and it turned out to be the ignition switch when I finally figured it out 9 months later. Old fashioned copper connections inside had corroded... Wonder if this could be similar? Thanks!

electrical snap or mechanical snap - the starter solenoid pushing out the the starter gear but not making the contact to actually turn the starter....maybe? - that would be more under the car - is it a manual - can it be push started?

Check the simple things first. Check all the electrical connections to starter and also ground cable from engine to frame. How many miles on the car ??
