Hoses and cannister under front fender?
I have a 1979, the braided hoses under the front fender have dried and cracked and need replaced. There's also a cannister under there, is this another fuel vapor cannister? My question is what are these for? One runs through to the engine compartment, possibly entering the air system/filter box? The other other runs into the body heading towards the rear, to the fuel vapor cannister?
Finding a clear diagram or explanation of these hoses is difficult. Can anyone help please!! Thanks |

what you’re seeing are vapor lines not fuel delivery lines. They’re important for keeping fumes under control and preventing fuel smell in the garage.
Since your hoses are cracked, it’s worth replacing them with proper vapor hose. The cloth braided stuff looks factory, but you can sub in modern smooth hose as long as it’s spec’d for fuel vapor. |

Where do they go to and from? I can't find any diagrams for them that clearly show where they connect to. Thanks again |

They should be depicted in a few places:
-emissions decal under the hood (shows the vacuum line routing and emissions device hose routing) -owners manual (I think mine had an overall diagram explaining the function and layout of major components in the emissions control systems) -workshop manual - if you don't have a copy, it can be found online in PDF format. An invaluable resource for servicing your 928.
