San Diego/North county Porsche drive

All,

I have great news! I made a couple of phone calls and managed to get us a special setup for the end of our ride. What's the special? Read the agenda for our drive below to find out!

When: Saturday, July 19th, 2003

Meeting Time: 2:00 pm

Meeting Place: Mobil station on the Westbound side of Hwy 76 and I-15. There's a large parking lot that serves as a "park and ride" area during the week. This gives everyone a chance to top off the gas tanks and stock up on fluid refreshments before starting the drive.

Starting Time: 2:30-2:45 pm

Route: We will start southbound on Old 395 to West Lilac Road. We will cross the bridge over the 15 and proceed on West Lilac Road to Valley Center. At Valley Center, we will turn left on Valley Center Drive and proceed north to Hwy 76. At Hwy 76, we will turn left and proceed west towards the Pala indian reservation where we will veer right onto hwy 79. We will proceed northwest on Hwy 79 to Old Town Temecula. We will cruise north on the main street of Old Town Temecula and turn off at the north end into the parking lot of the Temecula Beer & Wine garden.

Special Treat: We will park in a specially designated area reserved for OUR CARS, courtesy of Temecula Beer & Wine garden and Stone Brewing Co! I called Michael at Stone Brewing and mentioned to him about our little Porsche club and the drive I was trying to organize. Michael, being a true Porschefile, invited us to finish our drive at the "Stone Pale Ale pint and T-shirt night" and was more than happy to reserve special parking for us at this fantastic event. This gives us recognition in the town that hosts the very well known "Temecula RodRun" each year. Michael suggested that if we have enough cars turn out, that we could actually have a stand-alone event later this year just for our Porsches with a little help from Stone Brewing. No, drinking is not mandatory but if you choose to do so, Stone is offering a special treat consisting of a Stone Brewing T-Shirt, and a pint of their now famous IPA in an authentic logo pint glass (that you get to keep) for one low price. For those of us that get hungry or are just not interested in the beer, Old Town Temecula is a historic 18th century town that offers fine foods and a large number of antique shops.

Who can attend: This drive was originally to be 912 Registry members only but I have decided to invite all Porsche models.

RSVP: Please RSVP me at TonyBray@pacbell.net no later than Wednesday, July 16th. I will need a reasonably accurate number of attendees so we have plenty of reserved parking space.

Other: Be sure to bring your camera as our drive route offers many opportunities for that special "Kodak" moment. The route consists of some of the curviest and most scenic roads in the North County area so please be prepared!

Final Note: This event/drive may not be as big as Dunkels or Dana Point and it will never be if we don't show up in our usual large numbers so we can show Michael, Temecula, and Stone Brewing what the 912 Registry is all about. If this event is as successful as I think it will be, look forward to a full stand-alone event in the future!

Reminder....

I need RSVP's via email at TonyBray@pacbell.net to reserve enough parking spaces. Current count is about 10-15 cars (some of you have said your coming but haven't RSVP'ed). Model representation is pretty good. So far, we have some early 912's, one 912E, several 914's, a 924, a Boxster, a 944 Turbo, and a 996. So we are missing a 356, a 928, and a Cayenne to have a full deck of the Porsche playing cards...
