Stock 83 Euro S Specs?

whats the stock hp & tq to the rear wheels on an 1983 928 euro s? also what modifications can be done to increase the power of my shark, i'm gonna put the kick down toggle button in to control down shifts a little better, going tighen up the shifts by adjusting the firmness on the tranny. the previous onwer put twin cats on this. screw that gonna install a straight pipe, and headers. I just want to know beside super or turbo charging my car what other mods can be done to bump me up. heard something about increaseing the TB size to get hp. but heard thats only effective on the us version.

If you have a true 1983 Euro, you can (with respect now, mind you) generally "forget" about hot rodding the car, because it's already been hot rodded by Zuffenhausen. The car is rated at 300-hp from 4.7 liters, well at least the US '83 was 4.7, the Euro may be 4.5, I'll have to look.

In any case, the cams, compression, entire smog system, injection, etc., ALL has been tweaked to rule the autobahns of the homeland. You are not going to be able to treat this supercar like a Camaro. There are few if any mods the average guy can do to this car, to do much of anything to really make a difference. Don't even think for a nano-second that a K&N filter will do anything except cause more wear in the motor.

Perhaps one thing would be to install the extractor exhaust system as marketed by "Powerbroker" (do a Google), but those are $$$$ and the actual difference in a quarter mile or over the road is going to be the sound of the car (which would be spectacular).

As for FAST (Forced Air Systems of Texas) vortech supercharging systems, they don't have one for the '83 version, due to the manner in which the fuel injection and computer system worked on that model.

Therefore, unless you are getting into serious internal mods, better enjoy the car for what it is, just get it in a good state of tune, and keep a smile on your face all the way. A 300-hp 928 is a thing of joy!

regards, P

I know the difference in power between my '84 944 and the '90 944 S2. It's about 60 ponies apart.

That's the same difference between the stock '83 US spec car and the '83 Euro. With 60-extra horsepower I'd be dangerous in that car. As it is now, the cops give me the second and third look EVERY time they seem to see the car, and I feel like a "ticket" waiting to happen. That's why I go NOWHERE in that car without a V1 radar detector. It's so easy to break the speed limit with the 234-hp, doing it with 60-more horsepower and additional torque would be too much fun.

regards and good luck with the car

P

MUHAHAHAH. WHEN I GET A CASUE OF LEAD FEET. MY 928 TAKES OFF LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL SCREAM LIKE A BANSHEE. BUT I LOOK AT THE SPECS AS FAR A 1/4 MILE TIMES AND 0-60 TIMES THE DIFFERENECE. ISN'T MUCH. 60 PONIES SHOULD MAKE A BIG DROP IN TIMES. HOWS THE 60MPH ROLL ON YOUR CAR. I INSTALLED A KICK DOWN SWITCH YESTERDAY. MAKES MY ROLL OUT TIMES BETTER. WHICH GEAR IS YOU BEST GEAR TO ACCELERATE FROM. AND WHEN DOES YOUR CAR STOP 140MPH OR 150MPH OR HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN YOUR SHARK TO THOSE SPEEDS.

Stifekat, heres' your data

http://www.928racing.net/JohnVeningerRacecar.htm

This guy is running a Euro top end on a 5.0 bottom end, and the bottom end probably does little for power but adds a bit of torque. The Euro bottom end would give higher compression so I think he went US 5.0 out of necessity and cost, rather than seeking power. Otherwise he would have installed a DEVEK stroker crank and custom pistons, etc.

What this guy is doing is essentially racing a Euro car.

cool eh?
