Power windows and sunroof inop.

Hello,
I am from the 911 board, but I just took a 78 928 in trade. All of a sudden, the power windows and sunroof stopped working. I checked the fuses under the passenger floor boards and all seems to be OK. Are there any breakers located anywhere? The sunroof and PW's wouldn't share the same curcuit would they?
I have no shop manuals on these cars so any comments would be great.
Thanks.......

I had a problem with my SR & PW not always closing when I lock the car a while back my mechanic told me they share the same control unit. He fixed the problem so I asume he knew what he was talking about.

Fuse 8 for the sunroof, Fuse 21 and relay VI for the windows.
Make sure the a window switch or sunroof switch isn't sticking.

Hi Rick,

Congrats on the 928, you'll learn to love the car. However, before you love it, you'll need to understand the 928 is an electrically sensitive machine. Many have been sold due to a $15 relay. Check this out, this is the relay chart for your car. My advice is to replace all the relays now, as the one I took out of my '83 that failed, had corrosion inside when it pulled off the cover. They die on their own schedule, so better change them out now. I'm almost certain your problem is the relay.

Switches can go out on you too, but the old style can be taken apart and the contacts polished.

Good luck.

P
