VW-bodied 928? Check it out! (Not for dial-up users-graphics intensive!)
Anyone ever heard of the VW Golf's with the 928 drivetrains/interiors installed? Check out this article from Excellence:

It is wild! Interestingly, Road & Track did this same article, same pictures at least and the prose sounds familiar, some 10 to 15 years earlier. I've never forgotten it and latter on had the pleasure to own a series 1 928(and emerged unscathed) and S4. I have always hoped that one would surface at Barrett-Jackson or Dupont Registry. Not that I could afford one, but I'd like to check one out! Sbarro (Switzerland)did some wild golf/928 renditions later on, but his design exercises always seem to lack the attention(quality) that Artz was known for. I think it's a German thing;)

I've seen a Golf II also known as the jumbo a couple of years back here in South Africa. Unfortunately it was before my love afair with Porsche's so I did not show the interest I now wish I did.

Hi Johan! Greetings from California. Are there many Porsches in SA?
|
Hi Mike
Well thats a relative issue. I would say no you rearly see one, but they are consentrated in sertain areas where you can see one every couple of km's. At track days we usualy see 150 to 200 cars. We have a very active club with meetings and events on average more than once a month. I visited on of the two dealerships in SA today to get some brake pads, they had 47 new cars in stock to me that was many more than I expected. They also told me they sold about 50 Cayenne's to date. I suppose they are a much more common site in your part of the world. |
