Stife:

I believe the euro 3-speeds max out at 152. I don't know what the redline would be.

All 32v engines will bend valves if the belt jumps or breaks. The earlier 16v will not. It's a subject of debate whether the later 16v will do so. Do you have reason to believe that yours has done so?

As far as engine detailing goes, I just use a can of "Gunk" available at any autoparts store. Spray it on a cool engine (after covering the distributors and coils with plastic baggies), wait 10 minutes and hose off. Then start the car and let it run for a little while. Works wonders for me.

Hope that helps.

Here's some info, but not all the info. I have a 5-speed US '83 S-car, and it runs around 2600 RPM at 80-mph. That's just a comparison for you in the event you want to check it sometime against a Euro.

I took my '83 "S" into the shop today and my mechanic verified that the 16-v engine is not an interference engine. That's great news for those of us with the older cars. I popped a belt many years ago with a Volvo 240 and thankfully, it wasn't an interference engine. It was therefore an easy fix.

If you're good with wiring, and have access to the workshop manual's wiring diagrams, don't let Best Buy touch it. Install one component at a time and wait a couple days. If you mess something up, you'll know what's causing it that way.

you have to be good with electics if you own a 928, as there's always something like a window switch, a relay, a light bulb isolated where it's impossible to get to, etc., going out. I'd wire it up myself, for sure, as I would never let any of the idiots at the local stereo shop touch my car, I'm afraid they would scrape up the leather with a screwdriver in their pocket or something.

Spoilers are available (even Pelican may have them) but retail for about $250-$300. Are you asking for cheaper sources?

You'll just have to keep your eyes on eBay. I know they were being offer for about $200 a few months ago, but that was because I think Porsche unloaded their stock of them to retailers. Prices are back up to the $275-$300 range now.

Let us know if you find a cheap source.
