Car runs bad when cold I have a 1986 951 and unless I let it warm up for about 10 minutes it runs real bad. If I step on the accelerator too hard it seems like it want to stall and it idles rough. Once it is warm it runs just fine. Any suggestions? M |

Sounds like a temp sensor is bad. |

I had the "exact" same symptoms on my '83. I changed out the plugs, wires, rotor, and the Temp II sensor. Finally changed the Thermo Time Switch and fixed it. Both the Temp II sensor and Thermo Time switch are right up front near the thermostat where you can get at them easily, and they both look like a water temp sensor unit for a temp gauge. They both send a signal to the CSV (cold start valve) located under the intake manifold. The fuel line check valve can make the car hard to start, but what you described seems to be a classic Thermo Time Switch and/or Temp II sensor issue. Good luck, the parts are generally inexpensive and easy to change out. P |
