928 auto trans problems when cold
I have an 82 928 and when the engine/trans is cold it has troblem changing to 2nd gear once warmed up its ok. If anyone knows what this could be please email me. Mechanics here wont even tell me what it could be ,just that they need to rebuild the tranny without even checking it out B.S. Thanks Chris |
I have '79 with the same problem. Takes about a quarter mile before shifting. It was explained to me by the local respected transmission shop the internal seals are probably getting old and are leaking pressure until the unit gets warm. After warming up the seals will swell enough to hold enough pressure to shift gears.
Transmission oil treatment additive might be a first aid remedy and I don't know what it will cost to replace the seals (complete overhaul?) as the previous mentioned shop will not service the 928's Ed |
this is the same problem i have and havent tried fixing yet but i feel like the transmission fluid has either thickened or the transmission fluid is just old.the older it get the more contaminent the fluid gets and thus thickens to the point it doesnt flow through the valve body smoothly.try changing your fluid and filter in the transmission and maybe the hypoid gear oil in the diff.
P.S. ignore this if you already done.Sorry |
