Pricing advice on a 86 928S please?

Hello guys,
I know of a guy selling his very nice 86 928S with just 77k miles, auto trans. Nice Goodyear Eagle tires, everything works including cold A/C...

I am wondering what real world price expectations he might expect from you experts on the 928 series?

Are the last 4 digits of the VIN 1000 or higher? If so, it has S4 suspension and brakes....a big plus.

Honestly, you need to get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done before picking a price.

I'd say anywhere between $8-12K based on the condition of the car and the results of the pre-purchase inspection.

You've got to get in the car and test everything, including dash lights, make sure all the HVAC vents blow at the right settings, interior lights, wipers, locks, etc., etc., Raise and lower the headlights, check the driving lights, fog lights, etc.

Drive the car and make sure it shifts smoothly and kicksdown when floored.

Even with a perfect inspection result, understand that it's an 18 year old car and things can go wrong the day after you buy it. My 928 has been great since the day I bought it, except for the sudden need to replace the transmission recently. I probably could have just replaced the valve body, but once it was out of the car, it seemed wiser to replace it.

Good luck!
