Does anyone know what the flow rate of Bosch Fuel pump?
I was wondering if someone knew what the Gallons flow?
and the Psi rating of the Bosch Fuel pump would be in a 1980 Porche 928 comming out of the pump.. Thank you.... |

I don't have the direct answer to your question, but have a couple specs.
Since your car is CIS (K-jet) equipped the pumps used are capable of up to around 125psi, though actual system pressure ranges up to about 75 psi (5.2-5.8 bar) on 928 application. Fuel volume flow on the 928 is measured at the return line and is: "at least 1360cc/30seconds ." You should be able to convert this to GPH. Since the flow is measured after all the restrictions of the fuel system, I suspect that free-flow at the pump is slightly higher, but I've never seen a spec on such. |

What I was wondering can a after market like a Holley Blue or red Electric pump be used instead of the factory... just a queston.... I know fitting modifcations would have to be performed..... put would it possibly work? the Holley Blue flows at about 110GPH

Consider that your engine at 4.5 would use roughly the same amount of fuel as any other 4.5 hipo engine would *volume-wise*, so any pump that specs out for say a 350 Chevy or 302 Ford should do the trick.
However; electronic-injected engines like these run on a lower pressure than the CIS does, so I'm not sure that these pumps would be capable of pushing the higher pressure and if they were whether they would last very long under a higher than designed load. From what I've seen of specs, the 928 uses the highest required flow of any standard CIS application. The only way to tell for sure is to contact Holley to see if it'll work. |

Excellent thank you... Like I said I was just wondering..
Many thanks The reason I am asking if saw my thread saying engine shutting down the fuel pump is making some strange noises like in Pitch I think the engine is starving for fuel changed the fuel filter took the accumulator off and checked. cleaned the fuel tank filter it self repaired all vaccum leaks almost the sam condition as before it will some what idle but that is about it......
do you know where I can get the gauge kit to check the pressures of the engine it self... thank you Phil |

Pelican has the genuine Bosch unit for about $150. You can get a cheaper set thru JCwhitney, but I'd be cautious about both quality and accuracy with a made in China unit; even slightly wrong pressure could cost several MPG which would pay for the Bosch unit in no time, plus testing fuel pressures on a running engine with a tool of lesser quality is asking for trouble. I found the tool under the earler 911/tools section here on Pelican.
Were you able to locate and clean the 2 screens that I pointed out on the other thread? One of these clogged would certainly stop the car from running properly. The pump will change pitch slightly as it works pressure up/down but should be pretty steady under a constant condition like idling engine. |

Run the Bosch pump.
Check the flow via the return line.
