first time porsche owner

hello all, my name is jeff and I just bought an 81 928. I got the car for $500 and the body is in excellent shape the problem with it is that it wont crank. even with a new battery and having the starter selenoid jumped. is there any repair manuals out there I should look for? until recently I was driving a VW and just love german cars. I don't want this car to just sit around. so any help would be greatly appreciated. also I need to get my hands on a complete carpet set, dash pod, dash, and center console. I would prefer to change the interior color to black but original tan would suffice. thank you for taking the time to read my thread and I look forward to receiving your hints and advice.

If the starter won't even crank, I'd start by pulling it and taking to the local NAPA (or whoever's local) and having it bench tested; or get it on the bench and test yourself. The starter is 928 specific, but the solenoid should be pretty standard Bosch stuff if that's what's bad.

There are several places that deal in carpets; best thing would be to use google to find a place that deals with German car interiors, as these places tend to deal with all German makes/models. Usually you can get the carpet set in orig materials($$$) or more common US-spec materials (less$). I don't know whether partial sets or single pieces are available.

World upholstory is one interior supplier, there was another called original fit but I think they are out of biz now.
