I have a 1984 928S that I am parting out. The body on the car is almost perfect and the motor ran when I shut it off. Interesting story about it but if your interested I'll tell you about it. Please email me if you need a part.

Well after I had driven the car to school for about a month wich was awsome, I was the only kid with a porshe. The me and the car were volunteered to drive in the homecoming parade which I didn't mind. After we drove for about thirty minutes in the parade we had finally finished. I shut it of and about two seconds later tried to start it back up but it just cranked over. We checked everything on that car. So I watched the homecoming game which we won and got the car towed to the house the next morning. I always figured it would do something more than just not start. Anyway I always wondered if since the battery or alternator gauge read below twelve volts during the whole parade that it might have been the problem. The porsche mechanic said it probably wasn't and the thought of the cost to get it fixed just scared me so I'm parting it out.

Seems like the worst reason to part a car unless it is in terrible shape. Do you know how much more work it will be, than to just fix the one problem? 1,000 times more.

Heinrich makes a good point, you might make a few extra $$s parting the car but the time and effort to get parts shipped,etc. may be more work than selling as-is whole or finding the time to fix what sounds like an ignition problem.
Could be something as simple as a bad wire, switch or relay. |
