Weather is moderating in Tennessee, got the BIG DOG out for a run today (photos)

Thankfully, Tennessee winters are moderating. It is getting warmer each year, bit by bit, and thank goodness it's a mild winter so far. I hope you guys up north in Pennsylvania, Michigan, New England, and in the UK and parts of Europe are having a mild winter too.

Today we got up early, fired up the big dog (a 1983 928 5-speed) and took a nice long drive out into the hinterlands SW of Nashville, TN. Here is a photo of what the countryside in central Tennessee looks like. This photo shows some of the rolling hills, bluffs, and flat farmland out near Leipers Fork, TN, where lots of country music stars have purchased large tracts of land, and lots of the land is in a permanent land trust, never to be built on. The land behind the car is in such a trust. Much of the land around Leipers Fork is too, and since the farmland comes right to the edge of the village, it will always have a small village character. Following some of these roads back into the hills provides a beautiful surprise around each corner. The 928 burbled through it's gutted ANSA exhaust system, and I got several waves by people standing in front yards and horse pastures.

Here's a link to a couple more photos, taken today.

My wife still doesn't appreciate the significance that this car was the fastest thing you could buy on the North American continent in 1983. With the sunroof open, just a slow burble down these country roads is great relaxation.

regards, P

I'm a real car guy from the get-go, but I've never really had a car before that I am so totally nuts over than this 5-speed 928.

On week-end drives like this, or on early morning blasts into the office like I did this morning at 6:30 AM, it's a very tractable car, unbelivable driver, looks good, and sounds great. Sheesh, so many cars, so little time!
