928 wont start from time to time

My 84 928 wont start, everything works but when I turn he key the starter wont turn over. It doesnt happen all the time, but when it does happen its always warm out (70 degrees or more). It will sometimes start when I put the trans in neutral. Ive checked the wires at the ignition switch and those are fine. Any Ideas before I start trouble shooting. Thanks.

Manual or Auto?

If auto than check inhinitor switch. The wires for inhibitor switch can corrode and also break. Check this aswell, the wires are in rear wheel well above battery box.

If manual than either starter relay in fuse box is playing up or starter motor is playing up.

Yes that is correct m21sniper. It is also called an inhibitor switch for those of you not conversative with that neme. Sorry didn't think of calling it a neutral safety switch but some manuals have these so didn't want to confuse people with the two different kinds.
By the way, nice car m21sniper!!
