Stored 928
Does anyone have an opinion about buying a 928 that was stored for several years? I realise this could bring a lot of problems with it, since no-one's been driving the car and fixing glitches as they turn up. But the car is tempting (tho not cheaply priced) - 28K miles, and the year and model I'm looking for ('89 S4).

Car setting for many years . . .
The fuel system could be a problem. The remaining gas in the tank, fuel injectors, WUR, fuel filter, rubber seals and etc. Is the car in great shape other wise? What price is the owner asking? |
Things tend to dry rot when sitting unused for a long time. Not just belts and tires and interior bits, but also gaskets....important major internal ones.
I wont say dont buy it, but i will say to be prepared to spend lots of money if you do. |
It all depends on how much work you can do on your own to the car or do you need to get other people to do it for you. Remember 928's are an electrical maze and do give problems. m21sniper is right about the spending of lots of money. If you do not know anything about 928s then be careful as they look gorgeous but bit big chunks out of your bank account. A truly amazing car though and if your able to do everything yourself than buy it as you won't be dissapointed but if you know nothing about them then have it checked thoroughly first and tread carefully up to it as they bite thats why they are known as the SHARKS.!!!!!!!!!
