Spare tire dont fit my 86.5

I had a flat today and found out that my spare wheel wouldnt clear my brakes. wrong spare? or a midyear crisis? did porsche over look this when they put S4 brakes on the 86.5?

The 86.5 was the first year with the big calipers, so you probably have a pre 86.5 spare, as the early ones do not fit.

you should have at least a 16" diameter spare.

you should have some of these, too......

Camera flash just doesn't do them justice.

Actually, all joking aside, you do have a set of these. These are S4 Big Blacks, on par with GTS Big Reds. I stripped the paint (aircraft paint stripper), clear coat, and years of gunk off of them, repainted them with 1500 degree engine paint, then sanded off the paint where the "Porsche" name is.

Now, on to cleaning up the S4 front suspension pieces I got with the brakes.

Combine all of this with stainless steel braided brake lines, and I'll basically have an S4 in a 1980 Euro's clothing (except for the motor, but that's another story...)

And yes, Snipe, you should have some of these, tooo.
(for your 0-60-0 scare tactics!!!)

i was wondering if this is something that may have been overlooked and the 86.5's could have went into production with useless spares. he spare was unused. i dont think it was ever out of the car till today. maybe let overs from 86's?

S4 brakes and GTS brakes are WAY different, don't confuse the 2

Yes, your 86.5 has the 4 piston big blacks (S4 brakes). GTS big reds are different, but I've not heard of any significant stopping distances. Perhaps someone will enlighten me on how much shorter the difference is, so one can justify the added expense??

Sniper's calipers are quite nice, too, however the big blacks/gts big reds will throw you through the windshield......(Ha, ha, ha....)
