wont stay running

Hi, I have a problem with an 81 928 I just purchased. The car will not run on its own, (it has no injector pulse, I verified this with a noid light). I had the car running previously after locking and unlocking the doors with the key, but now this doesn't even work. If I try to start the car it runs for two seconds then dies. The (i) light in the instrument cluster and above the radio both flash. If I lock the car with the key an open the pass. side door the alarm goes off. It will not turn off with the key in the pass. side door only in the drivers side. The car will run if I spray it with intake cleaner. I feel it is the immobilizer system causing this car not to run. Is there any way to disable this system? I have already removed the control unit that is located behind the glove box, but now I am at the end of my rope. I also replaced the fuel pump and filter also I jumped the fuel pump relay and I have excellent psi coming up to the fuel rail. Any help would be appreciated.

look at the fuel pump relay . You can jump the wires to see if it will start

Sounds like your alarm is still "activated". The 928 with the factory alarm has two kinds of keys, long ones that turn the alarm on and off, and short ones that don't. Maybe you never turned off the alarm with one of the long keys?

Running two seconds is what I think you get from the cold start or some start up shot of fuel, and the regular injectors never run.

What I would do is put everything carefully back and use the long key to turn off the alarm. My understanding in that alarm details are poorly described even in the factory workshop manuals and wiring diagrams (which you can get from Jim Morehouse on CD).

Don't spray starting fluid in your car.

Alan on the rennlist is the alarm expert, maybe he can help you.
