86 or 86.5 on ebay?
Just noticed this car on ebay, no special interest to me, but the VIN is fairly close to the dividing point between 86 and 86.5, makes me wonder which side of the fence this one might be.
VIN # wp0jb0926gs860843

That's an 86.
Close only counts in hand grenades... ;-)

the cutoff for the 86.5 model is serial number 1000. this one is #843 so it is not an 86.5 model. Nothing wrong with the regular 86 model though.

Looks like I was mixing up when the 86 stopped, VIN ending 0937, and when 86.5 started VIN ending 1001. Never mind.
BTW plenty of things are "documented" in many places and not correct, repetition from the same source doesn't improve the reliability of information.

I had a 0926, it was indeed an '86. Easy way to check since describing brake calipers is a bear: ask if "PORSCHE" is visible on any of the brake calipers (86.5, yes, 86 & older, no).
