84 928 - What other Year and Models Seats will fit??
Hello Friends,
I have a 1984 928 that I have finally finished the Engine and Trans. Now it is time to redo the interior. I would like to ask if anyone knows: 1. Are there other Porsche Models that will interchange with the 928 seat configuration? 2. What are the corresponding years of those models? 3. How can I tell if I have a true 1984.5, where a limited # of units were produced with the 32v 5.0 engine for the 1985 Model year? Thank you, Jim |

Whats your VIN? I've never heard of any 84 that came from the factory with a 32v motor, or are you looking at the manufacturing date? The 1985 model year starts with cars manufactured in about the last third of the prior year, 1984.
With few exceptions in similar years all Porsche seats fit in all Porsche's, and I am pretty sure all 928 fit in all 928. Anything special you are trying to accomplish with a seat swap, 944 manual seats offer more headroom for example.

an 84 model should not have a 32valve engine. I'm thinking it must be an 85 model. I own an 86 model, built in July 1985. Besides the engine, another quick way to tell the 85- 86 models apart from earlier 928s models is to look for an antenna. 85-86 models have it built into the windshield, so you won't see one on this model.
As for the seat question, sorry I don't know. I did see these seats. http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/corbeaucr1.php they are listed as fitting 944 928 996 911 and boxster. the seat is the same seat, however you have to get the separate seat mount rails that specify the year and model number of the car. |

I am in the process of putting S4 electric seats in my 1980 Euro---wel, at least they are being re-leathered this week.
The later model seats are a bolt in deal, some folks like the sport seats, but are not as easy to come by. The later S4/GT/GTS seats are supposed to be better built (as far as the foam is concerned). I am doing my swap because of only having an electric seat on the driver side. Hope this helps. regards--- ![]()

Later seats are also heavier I think, something like 45 lbs if I remember right.

weight difference is electric versus manual, not year model

I don't recall the details, it was Hacker or Heinrich talking about the weight increase over the years.
